The Cleft Experience

God called His people out of Egypt and promised them a land flowing with milk and honey. On the journey Moses ascended mount Sinai and God gave him the 10 commandments. When he returned to the people he found them worshipping the golden calf. God had dealt with this obstinate people long enough and told Moses to take the people to the land He had promised them, but I’m not going with you. Moses pleaded with God—“if You’re not going with us; please don’t send us because I don’t want to go anywhere that You’re not. Is it not Your presence with us that separates us from all the people on the face of the earth? Please God… I will go with you-and this is how you’ll know. “Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall stand there on the rock; and it will come about, while my glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by.” As Moses was obedient to stand on the rock, God put him in the cleft of the rock. It was while Moses was in the cleft of the rock that he began to see God in a way he had never seen before. It was while he was in the cleft that God revealed himself in a way He had never revealed himself before. The glory of God experienced in the Cleft!
